Officer Aaron Khamosh of the Concord, California, Police Department was at the right place at the right time. Khamosh was on patrol last March when a driver desperately waved him down. Officer Khamosh saw a two-year-old unconscious in the back seat and immediately jumped in and started performing CPR on the toddler. The baby was not responding and started to turn pale. It is then the woman in the car told the police officer that the baby “got ahold of fentanyl.”
Khamosh did not hesitate to administered two doses of Narcan, a drug that can offset an opioid overdose. Thankfully, the baby regained consciousness. Khamosh continued the CPR until paramedics from the Contra Costa Fire Protection District arrived. An ambulance took the toddler to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Oakland and is expected to recover.
Thank you, Office Khamosh, for your quick reaction to a very deadly situation.
