Police Officer T. Melvin of the Smyrna Police Department (Georgia) took the time to comfort a woman whose house was burning down. Amid all the chaos, Officer Melvin took it upon himself to gently take her hand and pray with her as fire took her home from her.
According to her neighbor, this comforted her friend in her time of need like nothing else could. The owner of the house is a Christian lady whose faith is strong. Officer Melvin did not know this at the time.
Officer Melvin served as a Marine before joining the Smyrna Police Department. In a Facebook post, the department noted that Melvin and many other officers routinely pray for those they serve. We thank Officer Melvin and his fellow officers for all of their acts of compassion and love.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire, but the house and everything in it was lost. The picture of the homeowner and the officer is worth a thousand words. Our prayers are with the woman and all those who serve and protect.
